Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using UList.ca. By using the site you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. About UList.ca

UList.ca ("UList", "we", "us", "our") is owned and operated by BSRN Digital, based in Ontario, Canada. UList is a user-generated content platform where people can submit, vote on, and share list items.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to make a purchase on UList.ca. By using this site you represent that you meet this requirement.

3. Paid Submissions

UList offers three paid submission tiers:

Regular Post ($2 CAD) — adds your text item to the public list
Link Post ($5 CAD) — adds your item with a clickable hyperlink
Featured Post ($10 CAD) — highlights your item in the Featured section

All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD) and include applicable taxes. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. UList does not store your payment card details.

4. Permanent Item Numbers

Each submitted item receives a permanent sequential number (e.g. #1, #420, #1337). These numbers are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved, transferred, or guaranteed in advance. UList reserves the right to remove items that violate these Terms, which may result in a number being retired permanently.

5. Acceptable Use

By submitting content to UList you agree not to post anything that:

Is illegal under Canadian federal or Ontario provincial law
Is defamatory, harassing, threatening, or abusive
Infringes any third-party intellectual property rights
Contains malware, phishing links, or deceptive URLs
Is spam, advertising disguised as content, or repeated submissions
Contains hate speech or content that discriminates based on protected characteristics under the Ontario Human Rights Code
Is sexually explicit or pornographic

UList uses automated URL screening and user reporting to enforce these rules. We reserve the right to remove any content and ban any user or IP address at our sole discretion without refund.

6. Voting

Votes are limited to one per item per session. Automated voting, vote manipulation, or use of bots or scripts to artificially inflate vote counts is strictly prohibited and may result in content removal without refund.

7. Intellectual Property

By submitting content to UList you grant UList.ca a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, reproduce, and distribute your submission on the platform. You retain ownership of your content but confirm you have the right to grant this licence.

8. Disclaimers

UList is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not endorse, verify, or take responsibility for any user-submitted content or linked websites. External links submitted by users are screened against Google Safe Browsing but UList cannot guarantee the safety or accuracy of third-party sites.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Ontario law, UList.ca and BSRN Digital shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to loss of data, revenue, or goodwill.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of UList after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.

This Privacy Policy explains how UList.ca collects, uses, and protects your personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Ontario's privacy laws.

1. Who We Are

UList.ca is owned and operated by BSRN Digital, Ontario, Canada. We are responsible for the personal information we collect through this website.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use UList.ca:

Payment information — processed by Stripe. We receive a payment confirmation and Stripe PaymentIntent ID but never see or store your card details
Submitted content — the text and optional URL you submit to the list
IP address — collected temporarily for rate limiting and fraud prevention, automatically deleted after 1 hour
Vote activity — stored locally in your browser session only, not on our servers

3. How We Use Your Information

To process your payment and verify it before publishing your submission
To display your submitted content publicly on the platform
To prevent spam, abuse, and fraudulent activity
To respond to support requests sent to admin@ulist.ca

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with:

Stripe — our payment processor. See Stripe's Privacy Policy
Google Safe Browsing API — submitted URLs are checked against Google's threat database. See Google's Privacy Policy

5. Data Retention

Submitted items — retained indefinitely unless removed for policy violations
Payment records — retained for 7 years as required by Canadian tax law
IP addresses in rate limit table — automatically deleted after 1 hour

6. Your Rights Under PIPEDA

You have the right to:

Know what personal information we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate information
Request deletion of your personal information where legally permitted
Withdraw consent to data processing (note: this may limit your ability to use the service)

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@ulist.ca. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies & Local Storage

UList.ca uses browser session storage to remember which items you have voted on during your current visit. This data never leaves your device and is cleared when you close your browser. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

8. Security

UList.ca is served over HTTPS. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. We take reasonable technical measures to protect the data we hold, but no system is completely secure.

9. Children's Privacy

UList.ca is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to our site please contact us at admin@ulist.ca.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.

11. Contact & Complaints

For privacy concerns contact us at admin@ulist.ca. If you are unsatisfied with our response you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.

Please read this policy before making a purchase. Due to the nature of digital content, our refund policy is limited.

General Policy

All purchases on UList.ca are for digital content (list item submissions) that are published immediately upon payment confirmation. As such, all sales are generally final and non-refundable once your item has been published to the list.

Exceptions — When We Will Issue a Refund

We will issue a full refund in the following circumstances:

Your payment was processed but your item was never published due to a technical error on our end
You were charged more than once for the same submission
Your item was removed by UList for reasons other than a policy violation (e.g. technical error)

No Refund Situations

We do not issue refunds if:

Your item was removed for violating our Terms of Service
You changed your mind after your item was published
Your item did not receive the votes or visibility you expected
You did not get the specific item number you wanted (numbers are first-come, first-served)

How to Request a Refund

To request a refund email admin@ulist.ca with:

Your Stripe payment ID (starts with pi_)
The item number you were assigned
A brief description of the issue

We will review your request within 5 business days. Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method and may take 5–10 business days to appear depending on your bank.
